FRANK ZAPPA
How I did this
Some may ask "WHY I did this..."
I wanted to be able to change the layout and information on a lot of web pages, quickly.
As of now (5/6/2001) I have
entered data for only 7 CD's. When I run my Perl program that creates these pages it creates about
3.5 million bytes of data in 190 files (with only 7 CD's!). I enter the information from a CD in a
data file like this one (satltsadw.dat) :

This data is used to generate the CD pages that contain the links to each song
(if the cover images have been created they are added automatically), a song data file
(which is needed to generate the song pages), the song pages (during which a check is made to see
if a lyric file exists for that song) and a master data file. The 3.5 million bytes of data are
generated in about 1 second. I can change the layout of all the pages simply by adjusting the
html that is written in the MakeZappaWorld Perl program. The Perl program is not REAL presentable
(but is about the best I can do with my knowledge of Perl, and my seeming inability to move beyond
BASIC programming style), but for those who are interested,
here it is (HTMLified.)
Thanks for stopping by.
